Let’s pretend we’re at the beach!
I live in South Florida, so I like to consider myself a beachologist – aka beach expert (Did I just invent a word? Wait, I think I did! Anywayzzz)! No matter where you spend your summer days – beach, lake, pool or by the river, there are some amazing items around to make life easier. I have created a list of my summertime must have items!
Being at the beach can be stressful if you’re not fully prepared. I like to have my beach items stored away in one place so I can just grab and go whenever my family is in the mood. Towels, bathing suits, toys and cooler are always stored together.
What are some ways you make life easier when going to the beach? I would love to hear, so make sure to comment below!
My summertime must have items:
Lets talk for a minute about how annoying it is to pull out soggy sandwiches out of the cooler! Soggy food drives me insane! No Bueno. Well I know of a great fix to that problem. I recently found out about this amazing Pink Mesh Beach Tote Bag with an Insulated Picnic Cooler. There are more colors than pink, I just personally love pink.
It’s a beach, river, pool bag and cooler all in one! I love it because you can throw all your snacks and non-perishables on top and your drinks and cold items on the bottom. The mesh helps keep out the moisture that the heat creates and it’s easier to see what your looking for.
Even though you’re at the beach, I’m sure you want some shade. Shade is even more important when you have little kids in tow. To shelter my family, we have this awesome pop-up cabana. It’s called the G4Free Outdoor Pop-Up Cabana Beach Tent, the best part is that it’s Anti-UV!
What I find amazing about this cabana is not only is it a UV blocker, it’s actually easy to pack up. Not for nothing, but the last thing I want to do is be fussing around with a tent looking like a crazy lady. This tent is also light weight and hassle free! Love it!!
While at the beach or pool we “need” towels. Last year I snagged an amazing 4 pack of beach towels for a great bargain. I choose the 4 pack over “individually” chosen towels to keep it simple. We all have our color and it keeps the kids from arguing over why they need the newest action figure towels ( you know what I’m talking about if you have boys in your family).
One of the reasons that I love these towels is they are a size 30×60, now that’s a big beach towels. In my opinion there is nothing worse than going to the beach with some tiny towel. Utopia makes their towels with 100% cotton, meaning there’s no harmful chemicals or synthetic materials used. Double plus!
While at the beach your kiddos are going to need some sort of entertainment. There’s nothing better than getting down and playing in the sand with my kids. We LOVE to build sandcastles and decorate them with seashells and sea rocks. I don’t know what it is but the fresh air, the salt water smell, the sound of the crashing waves and seagulls makes me feel alive! Ok- back on track, lol.
My family decided on a 20 Piece Beach Sand Toys Set in a Zippered Reusable Mesh Tote as our beach toys. See there I go again with the mesh totes. The set comes with a various buckets that are shaped as pieces of a castle and a tool that helps smooth out the sand. It also comes with a starfish, truck, and fish shapes as well as many other items. Personally I find that 20 pieces is more than enough sand toys.
The mesh bag is amazing because I can load all the toys into the bag and shake off the excess sand BEFORE packing it back into the car. Another reason I love to place the toys in a mesh bag is because if I wanted to rinse the toys off in water I can. Load, rinse and shake. No sand in this mamas car!
For my sons swim gear we use a Stearns Puddle Jumper Life Vest. Although my son is 4 and we do go to the beach often water freaks me out! It can be dangerous for little ones. So when my son is going in near the water I put his puddle jumper on him. My sister is also a HUGE fan, she’s actually the one to introduce me to this product.
What my son and I enjoy about the puddle jumper is that it doesn’t ride up his chest and make him feel like he’s choking like regular life vests do. His old life vest would constantly ride up and bother him, leading him to bother me about wanting to remove it. Not the case with this Stearns Puddle Jumper Life Vest! He actually enjoys wearing it!
Once we are done playing and hanging out at the beach my family has certain items that we find are a “must” to help us clean up! To place all our wet clothes in we use OHBABYKA Travel Wet & Dry Travel Bags. These travel bags are fashionable (my favorite), dry fast and easy to use.
I included some other bags in the pictures below in-case you weren’t a of the rainbow chevron prints.
To get on and off the beach we use Mac Sports Heavy Duty All-Terrain Beach Wagon. I’m sorry, I just can’t find it in myself to carry beach bags, towels, suits and toys onto the beach! Not to mention get your kids to help you carry everything after a day at the beach. It’s hard enough to walk on sand yet carry EVERYTHING…. So I use this wagon to help me cart all my items with a breeze.
The beach should be a wonderful experience for all family members! These items have made my life and my families beach lives that much better! So, there you have it, my list of SUMMERTIME MUST HAVE ITEMS!
What are your summertime must have items? Is there anything on this list you would change? Please comment and let me know if there are better options for us all.
Happy Beach Going!
