How Does Ibotta Work?
You may be wondering How Does Ibotta Work or How to Use Ibotta.
Ibotta saves you money with an app right from your phone. The best part is that you shop like normal at the store. Meaning you don’t have to pull your phone out at the register or pull out coupons to save any money! That’s right no coupons at the register with this app.
How Ibotta works is: find offers (aka rebates, savings ) – complete the offer activity – go shopping – redeem your offers – get cash! It’s really that simple.
How do I find offers….
Once you have your grocery list made and you’re ready to head out to the store, log into your Ibotta app.
After you are logged into the app you will notice a search bar that has over 291 retailers listed. No need to freak out, based on your zip code the app will pull up the most relevant stores to you. And once you are actively using the app it will keep your favorites right up front under the Recommended Retailers section.
So click on the store you want to shop at.
For explanations, I’m going to say we are shopping at Walmart.
Click on the Walmart (or the retailer you are interested in)icon within your app. When you do that a bunch of offers or rebates will appear.
You will notice some tabs on the offer screen. They say: “All, For You, Buy It Again, What’s Hot, Best Value, New Offers, Any Item and more.
Click on the Any Item tab for a moment. This is my favorite tab because here will be listed products that you can purchase and get money back even if you buy a generic product. This tab is awesome around the Holidays. Right this moment I have and Any Item offer of $.10 back just for submitting a receipt. Also, there is listed $.50 back on milk.
Now let’s go back to the ALL tab.
Once you are back at the ALL tab go ahead and scroll thru the app and see if any product offer interests you.
After finding an available rebate that matches what is on your grocery shopping list, complete the small task required. This may be something like watching a 30 second video or answering a question.
To complete the task and add the offer to your list, click on the + sign you see. You will then notice a greenish, turquoise colored box saying Add (savings inserted here) back Offer.
Now Go Shopping.
O.k., you’re back from shopping. What’s next?
Redeem Your Offers
Shopping is done and you are ready to redeem your offers. Log into the Ibotta app to redeem your rebates.
On bottom section of the home screen in the app you will see an area that says: Find, My Offers, REDEEM, notifications and Account.
Go ahead and click on the REDEEM icon and select the retailer you went shopping at.
Depending on the store you will need to either scan the QR box on the receipt or take a picture of the receipt in the app. There are times you might need to scan the bar code of the product also to verify it matches the selected rebate.
So, again for this example click on Walmart.
On the next screen the Walmart store is asking to: “SCAN QR CODE at the bottom of your Walmart receipt to automatically capture.”
Select the green/Turquoise CONTINUE box. Scan the QR code. The app will then automatically select some of the offers that matches your receipt. There will be some that do not appear as matched, this normally happens when it’s the ANY ITEM offers. Select the remaining offers and click submit.
Ibotta will then verify your purchase(s). The money you saved will be loaded into your virtual account within 24 Hrs.
How do I Get My Money?
Ibotta automatically loads money into your virtual account as you redeem offers. Cashing out your account is simple once you’ve reach the minimum $20.00 threshold.
You can have the money sent to your PayPal and/or Venmo accounts or cash out by purchasing gift cards with the money in your account. Minimum requirements do apply to different gift cards so check the app because programs change.
What Other Savings Does Ibotta Offer?
There are Bonuses that can be earned, such as redeeming a certain amount of offers in a given time period, or a certain dollar amount. You can also earn Team Work bonuses.
When you join Ibotta you will become a part of “my team”. As you encourage others to join they will become a part of Your Team. Teams can work together to get extra bonuses, these bonuses are moneyyyy. 🙂
Ibotta also recently expanded their rebates program to offer a larger variety of product rebates. Depending on the state you reside in they may offer rebates on beer, wine and spirits. They also have money back on restaurants, clothing, pet purchases and more.
You can also shop online from inside your Ibotta app.
